Planting trees is actually pretty easy. Well, it’s hard work but it’s doable and it feels so darned satisfying and good to have done it. I plant trees with New York Restoration Project as part of Million Trees NYC–the goal is to plant 1 million trees by the year 2017!

Here is a step by step account of a little tree I planted. NYRP does the smart work of figuring out what kind to plant where. This is a pear tree on a sunny hillside at a housing development in Queens.
