Living rooms from days of yore
The Geffrye Museum features recreated living rooms from 1600 to the present day. The most interesting part was seeing the evolution—everything in the rooms became more refined, more colorful, more decorated, and more comfortable (or so it seemed). And, as my friend noted, people accumulated and displayed much more junk.
They had a Regency Era style room (1830). Like all the other rooms on display, this is one is typical of the middle class. Here are some pictures:
Candleholders are attached to the mirror. There is a small tea pot and teacup on the side table.

On the table are books, a journal and a set of watercolors. The four tiny pictures above the mantles are silhouettes.
There would have been three windows in this room.
